To refrain from demanding (penalty) Cancel – to free someone from punishment.] Forgive = primarily centered around the act of sending or transferring sth. Someone’s fault and, consequently, to exempt him/her from punishment; to release from one obligation. Divine forgiveness also includes renewal of the offence or miss the mark.
