not an instrument of execution.

from acting or preventing sth from occuring, typ. by instilling fear, doubt

or anxiety.

The stauros was specifically designed not to kill people, rather to fill

observers with fear and disgust, and drain them from any further

wish to rebel or revolt.

Secondary death = primary death and the ultimate purpose of the stauros.

Autonomy vs Heteronomy

An autonomous will (decision ability) is a good will (decision ability)

when the duty for the duty’s sake is accomplished,

obeying to reason and ignoring external factors.

An heteronymous will (decision ability) is not a good will (decision ability)

because it doesn’t fulfill duty for the duty’s sake,

submitting itself to factors other than reason.
